First registration as visiting student

On this website, applicants can obtain an overview of all the documents required for the online registration form. In case you do not have all documents on hand at this time, you can submit these lateron by e-mail or by uploading them yourself in the IFO student account (access is given to you after having submitted the online registration). In this case first upload another file for the missing document in the online form so that you can submit your application. For it is very important that you keep the application deadline by all means. Admission e-mails or letters will, however, only be sent once all documents are correct and complete.

Besides the websites for incoming students, useful and important information about the pre-departure preparations and on study and life in Osnabrück is provided by the Handbook for International Students. We expect you to have a look inside before so that you do not miss any fundamental information and optimally prepare for your stay in Germany.

Application periods:

For the winter semester (September to February): March 1 to May 15

Deadline for nomination by home university: April 30


For the summer semester (March to August): September 1 to November 1

Deadline for nomination by home university: October 15

* Additional particulars: Your full name, name and address of your home university, semester in which the single subjects have been completed, as well as signature and stamp of your university - including the current date.

Upload of documents as single files

The documents listed above shall not be uploaded altogether as one file, but as several single PDF or JPG files. If one document, e. g. your transcript, consists of more than one page, please first convert it into one PDF or JPG file. But please do not scan several pages side by side on one page of the file as this impedes the readability!


The online registration system will guide you automatically. You will find info buttons in many places giving you further information, if required. Your data will be maintained in the registration form as long as you keep your browser window open or if you click on the "save/register" buttons at the end of the single pages.
